GDI Directory

 

Key Mandates:

GDI is a primary agency under the Ministry of Industry Mines and Energy responsible for formulating and implementing government policy and development strategies in industry sector. GDI main areas of responsibility also include regulatory function over manufacturing industry and provide secretariat to SME Sub-Committee, which is responsible for overall coordination of cross cutting policy and strategy development in Small and Medium Enterprise sector.

Organizational Structure

The General Department of Industry (GDI) consist of nine departments and a secretariat:

  • Department of Industrial Affairs (DIA): responsible for developing and implementing government policy on industry sector and regulating the large size industry.
  • Department of Small Industry and Handicraft (DSIH): responsible for developing and implementing government policy on manufacturing SME sector and regulating small small and medium size industries and handicrafts.
  • Department of Industrial Techniques (DIT): responsible for development and implementation of technology adoption and innovation policy and strategy in industry sector.
  • Department of Industrial Property (DIP): responsible for formulating and implementing government policy and development strategy on industrial property. DIP is focal point for world intellectual property organization(WIPO) on industrial property and managing technology creation and innovation center of Cambodia.
  • Department of International Cooperation and Asean (DICA): responsible for coordination of activities on regional integration and international cooperation in industry, mining and energy sectors.
  • Department of Potable Water Supply (DPWS): responsible for development of water supply sector in urban area. DPWS is responsible for both policy development and implementation, and regulation enforcement.
  • National Productivity Center of Cambodia (NPCC): responsible for formulating and implementing government policy and development strategy on productivity. NPCC is focal point of Asian productivity organization (APO) in Cambodia. NPCC main areas of responsibility include promoting productivity movement and providing technical assistance to SME and industry on productivity improvement.
  • Industrial Laboratory Center of Cambodia (ILCC): responsible for testing and analysis of product quality. ILCC main areas of responsibility include also promoting R & D in product quality and safety improvement.
  • Secretariat: administrative support office of GDI working in close collaboration with Secretariat of SME Sub-Committee to provide full coordination and administrative facilitation of GDI's operations and projects.
